Mike began his sales and use tax career in 1992 as a Florida sales and use tax auditor.  While at the Florida Department of Revenue, Michael conducted sales and use tax audits of medium to large companies in the Miami-Dade area. 

In 1996, Michael accepted a position with KPMG in Miami, Florida as a Senior Tax Consultant specializing in the healthcare industry.  Michael assisted healthcare clients while at KPMG with numerous sales and use tax refund requests, audit defense and taxability studies. 

Michael took a job with HealthSouth Corporation in 1998 as a sales and use tax supervisor and was rapidly promoted to Assistant Vice President – Tax in 2000 and was promoted again in 2003 to Vice President – Tax.  While at HealthSouth Corporation, Michael managed numerous sales and use tax audits in many different taxing jurisdictions.  Michael prepared refund requests while at HealthSouth Corporation and was also published; writing a chapter on the Healthcare Industry for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation’s sales and use tax reference book, Sales and Use Taxation that was published in 2004.

Francine is a values and integrity driven Tax Director and Team Leader with 20+ years of experience in state and local operational taxes.  Her experiences range from Sales and Use Tax to Property Tax to Unclaimed Property planning and compliance.

• Tax Manager for one of the nation’s largest providers of specialty surgical services
• Sales/Use Tax returns, permits, registrations and audit
• Business Personal Property Tax Returns, review of property tax valuations, initiation of appeals and audit
• Unclaimed Property Reporting, Business License Renewals, Annual Report Filings
• Tax analytic reporting for budget estimates and accruals
• Due diligence for sales and acquisitions
• Research for potential tax abatements

Francine has been an active participant in continuing tax education with the Institute for Professionals in Taxation since 2004 and is a candidate for CMI designation.  She is also a former State of Alabama real estate licensee and former member of the Alabama Board of Realtors.
